Small Group Ministry

During my time at Mt. Diablo, I developed a passion for small group ministry. I led our community circles (called covenant groups in some congregations). Through regularly meeting with the circle leaders, I became even more convinced of the power of this kind of programming in building community and deepening investment in Unitarian Universalism. I have taken this commitment to small group ministry to UUCF, where our covenant circles thrive (we have over a quarter of the congregation involved in them). Congregational life is deeply enriched by the presence of this kind of program, and it's important that the minister have a role in helping to lead and offer support to the lay leaders who facilitate the groups.

Whether covenant groups, small group discussions, or other forms of small group ministry, I am comfortable leading in a way that is both gentle and strong at the same time. It's important to me that each person has a chance to be heard in a group setting, so I do what I can to create a safe, nurturing space that offers different ways of meeting the needs of all.
